Ffrench, Alexis - Classical soul vol 1 CD

Pianist and composer Alexis Ffrench based the title of his album »Classical Soul Volume One« on classic hip hop mixtapes. He combines short melody fragments from soul hymns such as »Ain't No Sunshine« and »A Change Is Gonna Come«, like »samples« in hip hop, with his own compositions. These are inspired by personal moments and memories. Alexis Ffrench says: »This project has something of a panoramic view and is also the result of a '360° process' in which I looked back but also looked forward.« The death of his father was a fundamental turning point, a loss that resonated and made Alexis look at his life in a new way. A break in nature, in the Highlands of Scotland, gave him peace and time for reflection. »These experiences make you think about what you have and what you really love,« he explains. In this respect, »Classical Soul Volume One« is also a universal tale of loss and love and a celebration of life.
