Kugelmann, Nils -Trio - Life Score LP

Gen-Z trio jazz! Instrumental songs full of groove, melody and cinematic intensity. With Life Score, Nils Kugelmann creates a personal soundtrack for life—music that captures emotions and everyday moments like a film score without a movie. Life Score is my personal soundtrack for stories that life has written for me in recent times. This personal connection to my compositions is important to me, as it allows me to connect more deeply with the pieces and embody them on a more profound level. I would like to delve into three of these backgrounds in more detail below. Turtles and Cocktails was inspired by a concert trip to Ecuador. We were invited there in March 2024 for a workshop and a concert at the jazz festival in Quito. After that, we went on holiday as a band to the Galapagos Islands. The nature there was truly breathtaking. During the day, we saw lots of fascinating animals (such as the giant turtles), and in the evenings, we mostly sat together, played cards, and enjoyed cocktails. For me, the song expresses a sense of grand adventure and invites you to relive this journey. The composition Waiting for Your Loved Ones explores the anticipatory aspect of waiting in love. Knowing that you are about to see each other or hear each other on the phone is, to me, a very powerful and beautiful fee[1]ling, which also inspires me to compose. This led directly to the creation of this song, written during two moments of waiting for my girlfriend. It is an instrumental love song and an expression of a significant story. The title Key Moment intentionally conjures an image of a possibly dramatic, life-changing event. In reality, however, the term refers to the moment when a long-lost set of keys is found. The great feeling of relief that follows, as the worries about the possible consequences dissipate and give way to pure happiness, inspired this piece. Each song has its own story to tell. A great inspiration for all the pieces was and is my wonderful band, with Luca Zambito on piano and Sebastian Wolfgruber on drums. Knowing for whom you are writing the songs and who you will be touring with is certainly one of the greatest motivations. I hope you enjoy the music. Nils Kugelmann
