ove Crowns and Crucifies restores the complete recordings of Care, the short-lived collaboration between Ian Broudie and Paul Simpson, released in partnership with Needle Mythology. Formed in 1982, the duo connected through Liverpool’s post-punk scene, producing three cult singles — ‘My Boyish Days’, ‘Flaming Sword’ and ‘Whatever Possessed You’ — before parting ways. Their work later found dedicated fans abroad, long after the project ended. Working from the original quarter-inch tapes linked to the 1997 Diamonds and Emeralds set, this edition brings previously unheard material to light, including ‘Colour and Sound’, an instrumental version of ‘On The White Cloud’, and early demos with Pete de Freitas. Newly mastered and artist-approved, it reveals the full scope of Care’s brief but striking run.
