The album "Elis", released by Philips Records in 1972, was the first album by singer Elis Regina to be produced by Roberto Menescal. The well-known guitarist also helped her select the repertoire, which included many contemporary songs by young composers as well as some of her most important hits. Among them was a version of Tom Jobim's "Águas de Março", which she would record again two years later as a duet with the composer for the joint album "Elis & Tom". This was also Elis' first collaboration with the arranger and pianist César Camargo Mariano, who later became her second husband.
João Marcello Bôscoli, one of the singer's sons, has remixed and remastered this extraordinary album for the reissue on black vinyl.
