"Transa", released in 1972 on the Philips label, is the second album that the Brazilian singer and songwriter Caetano Veloso recorded during his exile in London. The album, on which Caetano cleverly quotes the classics of several bossa and samba greats in his songs, offers a wild mixture of MPB, tropicália, progressive folk, afoxé and rock. It was produced by British keyboardist Ralph Mace, who was part of David Bowie's touring band at the time. In his autobiography "Verdade Tropical", Caetano described "Transa" as one of his favorite records, as he had reached a higher musical level on it than ever before.
The classic is now being reissued on gray vinyl with its characteristic sleeve, in which the booklet and cover form a triangle.
