Morjane Tenere - I Wish I Could Be An Angel CD

Morjane Ténéré is a voice that resonates, captivates, and moves the listener. The singer-songwriter embodies a folk-blues sound tinged with pop and Andean influences. In Tamasheq, the Tuareg language, "Ténéré" means desert. Morjane carries this name like a talisman, imbuing her compositions with a deep connection to nature, the elements, and animals. Taking on the challenge in 2019 of writing a song a day for 100 days, she has composed over 1,000 tracks to date. She has also toured the world, performing more than 300 concerts in 10 countries, from legendary venues to unusual locations like a lighthouse at the tip of Iceland or a squatted theater in Athens. Today, she presents her first EP, I Wish I Could Be an Angel, which explores universal love, human tragedies, and pays homage to her ancestors. Sung in English and Spanish, this album straddles the line between the intimate and the universal, as exemplified by the haunting "How Can It Be," which explores grief and memory. Here, an open-air room becomes a space for remembrance, and a sun-like dancer embodies the lost loved one. Driven by a quest for meaning and initiation, Morjane Ténéré delivers a deeply felt and liberating music that invites each listener to reconnect with their own story and their own truth.
